In our commitment to the wounded veterans who’ve sacrificed so much to keep us free, we offer the Sentinels of Freedom Merit-Based Grant. This one-time monetary award of $1,000 helps “fill the gaps” in education costs not covered by the GI Bill. The grant may be used for educational purposes including books, computers, and tutoring expenses.
To qualify for the grant, recipients must have an honorable discharge, a VA disability rating of 30% or higher and have been wounded or injured in a combat or training related event post 9/11. They must also be enrolled full-time in a VA approved post-secondary education or vocational school and have completed at least two years of higher education with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
There are two primary deadlines to receive grants: April 1 and September 1. Please note: Veterans who are already a part of the Sentinel’s Bridge for Education program are not eligible for Merit-Based Grants.
